Reputation Management

Fence Company Reviews, Asked For When the Gate Closes.

Your crew sets a line of posts and hangs a gate that latches. The homeowner loves it and never says so online. The neighbor who thinks the fence crossed the line does, and the next homeowner reads it first. We ask every customer when the job is finished and answer every review.

  • Homeowners read fence reviews for whether the crew showed up when promised, left the yard clean, and came back when a gate started to sag.
  • The finished install, with the new fence in front of them, is the moment to ask. Asking only the customers who seem happy breaks Google’s policies.
  • A complaint about a delay, a backordered material or a property line is answered for the next reader: calm, specific, and without an argument in public.
  • Google’s policies prohibit offering incentives for reviews, and the FTC rule in force since October 2024 bans fake reviews and rewards tied to positive ones.

What keeps the phone quiet

Why good fence crews end up with quiet profiles.

The crew packs up and leaves

The last panel goes up, the crew loads the trailer and heads to the next yard. The office is busy scheduling estimates, nobody asks for a review, and a season of good fences leaves little on the profile.

A delay review at the top

A customer waited weeks past the start date while materials were backordered. Their review sits unanswered, and the next homeowner reads it as how every job goes.

Neighbors who were never customers

The fence went up where the customer’s survey put it, and the neighbor still disagrees. Their review is not about service they received, but nobody knows whether it can be reported or how to answer it.

“Clint took my company's project much further than I ever expected. His tech experience was fantastic, but even more than that, he guided me in directions I hadn't anticipated. We hadn't planned on some of the changes he suggested, but he made it all bigger, better and bolder.”

What you get

Built to book the job.

A request at every finished install

A text with a one-tap link to your Google review box, sent when the job is marked complete. With Grow it goes out from the job record, not from a crew lead remembering on the way to the next yard. Grow for fence companies

Problems reach you first

The same message asks how the install went. Anyone with a loose post or a gate that will not latch gets a call that week. Everyone still gets the review link, because filtering who is asked breaks Google’s policies.

Every review answered

Each review gets a reply in your voice: a thank you that names the fence type in general terms for a good one, and a calm, specific answer for a bad one, without posting anyone’s address or invoice.

Delay and property line complaints handled honestly

A delay reply explains in general terms what held the job up and what the company did about it. A property line reply stays neutral, explains how the line is set before any post goes in, and offers a call. If the company got it wrong, the reply says so.

Policy reports, not removals

Fake reviews, posts from someone with no experience of the company and reviews meant for another fence contractor are reported with the specific Google policy cited. Google decides. A genuine complaint stays up and gets a reply.

Reviews on your material pages

A vinyl privacy review placed on the vinyl fence page, a gate review on the gates page, with review markup only where those reviews are visible on the page.

The short answer

Fence company reviews are what a homeowner reads after spotting three companies under the map and before requesting an estimate, and SE Ranking shows 30 US searches a month for the phrase. We send a review request when every install is finished, reply to every review in your voice, answer delay and property line complaints honestly, report only reviews that break Google’s policies, and place real reviews on your material pages.

Common questions about reputation management for fence companies

When should a fence company ask for a review?
The day the install is finished, once the customer has walked the line and tried the gate. The new fence is in front of them and the crew’s work is fresh. A text with a one-tap link works better than a card in the mailbox. Ask every customer and keep the request short.
How do we answer a neighbor who says the fence is on their property?
Stay neutral and brief. Thank them, explain in general terms how the line is located before any post goes in, and offer a direct number. Do not argue the survey or name your customer in public. If the review is not about an experience with your company, we can also report it, and Google decides.
How should we reply to a review about a delay?
Own it. Acknowledge the wait, explain in general terms what caused it, such as a backordered material or weather, and say what the company did to finish the job. Offer a direct line to the owner. Homeowners understand delays; what they judge is whether anyone kept them informed.
Can we offer a discount on staining for a review?
No. Google’s policies prohibit offering anything in exchange for a review, and the FTC rule in force since October 2024 bans fake reviews and rewards tied to positive ones. Ask every customer the same way, with nothing attached, make it one tap, and let honest reviews build the rating over time.
Can you get a bad review removed?
Only if it breaks Google’s policies, such as a fake review, one from someone with no experience of the company, or one meant for a different fence contractor. We report those with the policy cited, and Google decides. A genuine complaint stays up, so the reply is what you control.
Can we only send the review link to happy customers?
No. Sending the link only to customers who said they were satisfied is review gating, and Google’s policies prohibit it. Ask everyone. The same message can ask how the install went so you hear about a loose post or a sticking gate first, but every one of them still gets the review link.
