TidyCan Alabama Case Study: A Bin Cleaning Website's First Three Months

Most agency case studies show a line going up, with no dates and no starting point. This one has both, and it includes the month the line went down.

TidyCan Alabama is a firefighter-owned trash can cleaning company in North Alabama. We built its website, and it began collecting search data on July 6, 2026. What follows is what Google Search Console recorded from that day through October 2, plus the company's lead growth for September.

A Starting Position, Not a Lift

One note before the data. The domain was new, with no earlier site collecting data, so the search numbers are not a lift over a baseline. They are where a new site landed in three months.

Search Visibility: 14,002 Impressions in Three Months

From July 6 through October 2, the site appeared in Google results 14,002 times and was clicked 369 times. That is a click-through rate of 2.6% at an average position of 12.7.

Google Search Console, tidycanalabama.com: clicks and impressions.
Month Impressions Clicks Average position
July (from the 6th) 4,690 130 not broken out
August 5,181 134 12.6
September 3,935 103 11.9

September is the month to look at. Impressions dropped 24% from August and clicks dropped 23%. Average position got better over the same month, from 12.6 to 11.9.

So the site ranked a little higher and was shown less often. The likeliest reason is the season: bin odor is a hot-weather problem, and fewer people search for it as the weather cools. Next summer's numbers will show how much of the dip is seasonal.

The Number That Matters: Searches Without the Company Name

A new business has no brand demand. Nobody in Florence or Muscle Shoals was searching for a company they had never heard of. If a new site only ranks for its own name, it is not working.

Google reported 653 different searches for this site. Only 23 included the word "tidy." The other 630 were people searching for the service, the problem, or the town.

Where the 630 non-branded searches ranked Count
Top three 49
Top ten (page one) 215
Below position ten 415

The searches made by someone ready to book are the ones to watch:

Search Average position Impressions Clicks
trash can cleaning service 6.0 261 9
trash bin cleaning service 7.0 123 3
garbage can cleaning service near me 7.2 76 4
garbage can cleaning service 9.6 220 7
trash can cleaning service near me 13.0 215 15

Four of the five are on page one. The fifth, at position 13.0, still produced the most clicks of the group, which says how much those "near me" searches are worth. Across the whole site, 52 different "near me" searches produced 583 impressions and 27 clicks.

The Blog Gets Seen. The Home Page Gets Clicked.

The site has 12 blog posts about problems homeowners search for: why a trash can smells, what to do about maggots, how to stop a garage from stinking. Together they drew 6,707 impressions, close to half of everything the site earned. One post about garage odor drew 3,393 by itself at an average position of 7.9.

Those posts produced 33 clicks. The home page produced 292.

Part of the site Impressions Clicks
Home page 4,679 292
12 blog posts 6,707 33
7 service pages 1,938 34
10 town pages 228 2

Both halves of that table are useful. The blog is how a new domain gets in front of people months before they search for the service. The home page is where they go when they are ready. A site with only one of the two would have shown up half as often or been clicked far less.

The town pages are the weak line. Ten of them drew 228 impressions between them. That is the clearest place to improve, and it matches what we found when we reviewed 13 other bin cleaning websites: only 5 had a page for each town at all.

14,002 impressions and 369 clicks from Google search between July 6 and October 2, 2026, at an average position of 12.7.

Leads: Up 72% Between September 1 and October 1

Between September 1 and October 1, TidyCan's leads grew from 250 to 430. That is 180 more in one month, a 72% increase.

That growth came in the website's third month, with the site holding page one for the searches people make when they are ready to book. A page-one website is where a neighbor goes to check the company out and sign up.

What We Changed After Looking at These Numbers

Conversion tracking. Lead tracking now runs through Google Tag Manager, as of October 4, 2026. The site counts signup clicks, phone clicks, form submissions and coverage checks. Signup itself is completed in outside route software, so the site can count the click through and not the finished signup.

A coverage check. Added to the home page on October 4, 2026. A visitor types a ZIP code or town and is told if the address is on the route before being sent to sign up. Searches that miss are logged, so the owner can see where demand is coming from outside the current route.

Real numbers in the page. The stat counters on the home page used to count up from zero, which meant some visitors saw "0" for a moment. They now show the real figure immediately.

Next: the town pages. 415 non-branded searches sit below position ten, and the ten town pages are barely being shown. That is where the next gains are, and it is covered in how to build service area pages for trash can cleaning.

What an Operator Can Take From This

A new bin cleaning website can reach page one for service searches inside three months without any brand recognition. It gets there faster with posts that answer the smell and pest questions people search before they search for a cleaner.

If you are planning a site, the full list of what it needs is in what a trash can cleaning website should include, and the cost side is in what bin cleaning routes charge and earn.

This is the work we do for operators: website design for trash can cleaning companies, the local search work in SEO for trash can cleaning companies, and both together with follow-up in Bin Cleaner OS. The site itself is in our portfolio as the TidyCan Alabama website launch.

Common questions about trash can cleaning companies

How long does it take a new bin cleaning website to rank?
In this case, about ten weeks to reach page one for the main service searches and three months to hold it. TidyCan's site ranked at position 6.0 for "trash can cleaning service" by early October 2026, from a domain that began collecting data on July 6. Results vary by market and competition.
Is an average position of 12.7 good for a new site?
It is normal for a new domain. An average of 12.7 means page two across all searches combined, with a large group already on page one. For TidyCan, 215 of 630 non-branded searches ranked in the top ten. The average improves as the domain ages and earns links.
Why did impressions drop in September?
The likeliest reason is the season. Impressions fell 24% from August while average position improved, which means the site ranked slightly higher and was shown less often. Bin odor is a hot-weather problem, and fewer people search for it as the weather cools.
Does a bin cleaning business need a blog?
On this site, 12 blog posts drew 6,707 search impressions, nearly half of the total, and put a new company in front of homeowners searching about bin odor and pests. They produced few clicks, 33 against the home page's 292, so a blog builds visibility and the home page does the selling.
What would you do differently on the next launch?
Build the coverage check into the first version of the home page, and give every town its own page from day one. On this site the coverage check was added in October and the town pages are the weakest part of the search data. Both are the first things a neighbor looks for: does the truck come to my street.
