Google Business Profile

HVAC Google Business Profile for the Late-Night Search.

It’s 9pm and the house is at 84 degrees. The homeowner opens the map, reads three listings, and dials one. Yours says Contractor, shows six old photos, and claims all-night hours nobody answers. We pick your category against your job mix, set an honest service area, and keep real photos coming.

  • Residential repair and install shops usually land on HVAC Contractor. A cooling-only operation may do better under Air Conditioning Repair Service. Pick against the job mix.
  • Google's guidance is that the service area should not extend past about two hours of driving from your base. A tight area outranks a sprawling one in every town inside it.
  • Open 24 hours only if someone answers at 3am. Unanswered emergency calls are the ones that become one-star reviews.

What keeps the phone quiet

Why the map shows three other contractors.

Listed under the wrong category

The company does mostly AC repair and the profile says Contractor, because that was the first option that came up. Google files you where the category says. The searches that pay never see you.

Open 24 hours, answered at 8am

The profile says round the clock. A homeowner calls at 2am with a dead compressor and hits voicemail. That is the worst moment of their week, and the review they leave at 7am says so.

Six photos from 2021

The listing has the logo, a truck, and four photos from the day it was made. To Google and to a homeowner it looks abandoned. A tech with a phone could fix it in ninety seconds a week and nobody asked him to.

“Clint was incredible to work with! He was everything you need - quick to communicate from beginning to end, professional, flexible when I had questions and asked for extra options, and SO fast on his turnaround time. I would recommend Blaksheep Creative to everyone!”

The short answer

Your Google Business Profile is what an HVAC customer sees at 9pm with the house at 84 degrees; they open the map and dial one of three listings. We set a primary category picked against your job mix, an honest service area, the shop address hidden if customers never visit, hours honest about 3am, monthly install photos, and a review flow. Category and service area fixes can shift position within a few weeks.

Common questions about google business profile for HVAC companies

What primary category should an HVAC company choose?
Pick against the job mix, not the business name. Residential repair and install shops usually land on HVAC Contractor. A cooling-only operation may do better under Air Conditioning Repair Service, and a heating-heavy market may not. Secondary categories cover the rest without weakening the primary.
How large should our service area be on the profile?
Smaller than most contractors set it. Google's own guidance says the overall service area should not extend farther than about two hours of driving time from your base, and in practice a tight area covering the towns you truly serve outranks a sprawling one in every town inside it.
Should we hide our address if we work out of a shop?
If customers do not come to you, yes. Google's guidance is that service-area businesses hide the address, and that is doubly true for anyone dispatching from a home or an unstaffed yard. A visible address you cannot staff during posted hours is a suspension risk.
Should our hours say open 24 hours?
Only if someone actually answers at 3am. Listing round-the-clock hours you do not cover produces calls that hit voicemail during the worst moment of a homeowner's week, and those are the calls that turn into one-star reviews. Post honest hours and note the emergency line separately.
Can we create separate listings for the other towns we serve?
Not unless you have a real staffed location there. Fake or virtual locations get profiles suspended, and reinstatement for HVAC is slow enough to cost you a season. Cover other towns with an accurate service area and real pages on your website instead.
How fast does profile work show up in the map pack?
Faster than anything else we do. Category corrections, a real service area, a full services list, and photo activity can shift position within a few weeks. Review volume takes longer, which is why we start the review flow at the same time rather than after.
