Google Business Profile

A Handyman Google Business Profile That Gets You in the Door.

Loose railings and a closet door off its track send a homeowner to the map for help this week. Your listing shows one category, no services and a photo of a business card, so they tap the profile that names the jobs and shows a face. We fix the profile to win that tap.

  • Many handyman searches are answered by the map before any website, so the profile is often the first and only look a homeowner takes.
  • A long list of small jobs is the trade. Entering the ones you want more of as separate services gives Google something to match beyond the word handyman.
  • Most handymen work at the customer’s house, so a service area with the address hidden usually fits Google’s guidelines better than a published home address.
  • Google no longer offers the questions and answers feature on Business Profiles, so what people ask about rates, minimums and the jobs you take belongs in your description and website FAQ.

What keeps the phone quiet

Why the homeowner calls the other handyman.

One word, no jobs

The profile says handyman and nothing more. Someone searching for drywall repair or a ceiling fan install cannot tell whether you take it, and the listing beside yours names both.

No face, no work

The only photo is a logo or a business card. A homeowner is deciding who to let into the house, and the profile with a friendly photo of the owner and real finished jobs gets the call.

A home address on the map

The listing shows a house address where no customer ever visits, or the service area leaves out the towns you drive to every week. Both tell Google the wrong thing about where you work.

“Our website build with BlakSheep was the type of experience that you want to share and brag about. Very responsive, organized, to the point with our design. The creativeness of Clint provided us exactly what we wanted and needed. Would definitely use them again and recommend them!”

What you get

Built to book the job.

Categories checked at setup

We pick the primary category from the list Google offers today, checked when the work is done since it changes, and add secondaries only where a job is something you sell by itself.

Each job you take as a service

TV and shelf mounting, furniture assembly, drywall repair, door and trim work, fixture and fan installs, caulking, small carpentry and punch list work, each entered on its own with a plain description.

A service area that matches your drives

Address hidden with a service area of the towns you really go to, with name, phone and hours matching your website and the major directories. A missed call gets a text back with Grow. Grow for handyman services

Photos of you and the work

The owner and the team, the truck, and finished jobs from mounted TVs to patched walls, with the homeowner’s permission, added as jobs finish. Phone photos from real visits beat any stock image.

A description that answers the first questions

How you charge, whether there is a trip minimum, the jobs you take and the ones you pass on, in plain words. Those questions used to go to the profile questions feature, which Google has retired.

Reviews asked for when the job is done

Profile fixes can move quickly; reviews build over months. The ask goes out while the customer is looking at the finished work. Collecting and answering reviews is its own job. Reputation management for handyman services

How it works

Fixed quote. Fixed timeline. Yours when it’s done.

    15-minute call

The jobs you want more of, the towns you drive to, how you charge, and who can sign in to the profile today.

  2. 02

    Audit

What the listing says now, which jobs are missing, the service area, photos, the description, directory listings, and who shows up first on the map for handyman searches near you.

  3. 03

    Price in writing

A fixed price for the one-time setup. Keeping it current each month is part of every site plan, including the 12-month plan at $500 a month with the build fee waived.

  4. 04

    Fix, then keep it current

Jobs, categories and service area are corrected first. After that, new photos and a post whenever a good job wraps, with a monthly report of calls, directions and site visits the profile sent.

The short answer

A handyman Google Business Profile decides whether you show in the map when someone searches for a handyman near them or a job such as TV mounting, and whether they trust you enough to call. We confirm your categories against Google’s current list, enter each job you take as its own service, set a service area that matches where you drive, and add photos of finished work and the person who shows up.

Common questions about google business profile for handyman services

What Google category should a handyman use?
The closest match to your main work from Google’s current list, which we check at setup because it changes. A general repair business and one that mostly does a single trade may need different setups. Secondary categories go on only for work you sell on its own, since a padded list blurs what you do.
Can a handyman have a profile without a shop?
Yes, as a service-area business. If customers never come to your address, it stays hidden and the towns you drive to are listed instead. Showing a home address as if it were a storefront breaks Google’s guidelines and can get the listing suspended, so we set it up correctly from the start.
Should we list every small job we do?
List the ones you want more of and that people search for by name, each as its own service with a plain description. The smaller odds and ends can sit in the description. A profile that names real jobs gives Google more to match than the word handyman alone.
What photos should a handyman add?
A clear photo of you and anyone else who goes to customers’ homes, the truck, and finished jobs such as a mounted TV, a patched wall or a rehung door, with the homeowner’s permission. People are choosing who to let inside, so seeing who is coming matters more than polish.
Can customers still ask questions on our profile?
No. Google has retired the questions and answers section on Business Profiles, so it is not part of what we sell. What homeowners want to know, such as your rates, any trip minimum, which jobs you take and how soon you can come, belongs in the description, the services and your website FAQ.
Do Google posts matter for a handyman?
A little. A post about a finished job tells a homeowner you are working and busy, and gives the photo somewhere to sit. Posts will not lift a weak profile on their own. Services, categories, reviews and how close you are to the person searching count for much more.
How fast does profile work show up?
Adding the jobs you take and fixing the category and service area can move the listing in a matter of weeks. Reviews are slower and build one visit at a time, and your distance from each homeowner never changes. That is why the review ask starts the same week the profile is fixed.
