Reputation Management

Tattoo Shop Reviews That Name Your Artists.

Clients love the piece, post the healed photo to their own feed, tag the artist, and never leave a word on your Google profile. Meanwhile one deposit dispute sits there unanswered, and people comparing studios read it before they ever see the portfolio. We ask every client after the session and answer every review.

  • People choosing a studio read reviews for cleanliness, how the artist made them feel and whether the price matched the quote, not just the stars.
  • Reviews that name the artist help both the studio and that artist’s book. Inviting clients to name them is fine; asking only the happy ones breaks Google’s policies.
  • A calm reply to a deposit, scheduling or touch-up complaint is written for the next client reading it, never about the client’s body or the piece in detail.
  • Google’s policies prohibit offering incentives for reviews, and the FTC rule in force since October 2024 bans fake reviews and rewards tied to positive ones.

What keeps the phone quiet

Why great studios end up with quiet profiles.

The love goes to social, not Google

Clients share the fresh piece on their own accounts and tag the artist. That helps the artist, but the Google profile people check before booking barely moves.

Deposit disputes sit on top

Someone missed an appointment, lost a deposit and wrote about it. With no reply, the next reader sees a shop that keeps money, not a clear policy that was explained up front.

The artists never show up by name

A review says great experience and nothing else. Nobody searching for a particular artist or style learns who did the work, and the review helps less than it could.

“Working with Clint is an absolute delight! He is very knowledgable, a great communicator, has wonderful and creative ideas, and is so easy to collaborate with. 10/10 would recommend working with BlakSheep Creative!!”

What you get

Built to book the job.

A request after every session

A text with a one-tap link to your Google review box, sent to every client after their appointment, with an invitation to name the artist. With Grow it fires from the booking, not from the front desk remembering at close. Grow for tattoo studios

Problems reach you first

The same message asks how the session went and points to aftercare. Anyone with a concern about healing or the result hears from the studio that day. Everyone still gets the review link, because filtering who is asked breaks Google’s policies.

Every review answered

Each review gets a reply in your voice: a thank you that credits the artist for a good one, and a calm, specific answer for a bad one, without describing the client, the placement or the piece in public.

Deposit and touch-up complaints handled calmly

A reply that restates your deposit and touch-up policy in plain terms, says what the studio will do now and gives a direct way to reach the owner. If the studio got it wrong, the reply says so.

Policy reports, not removals

Fake reviews, posts from someone who was never a client and reviews meant for another shop are reported with the specific Google policy cited. Google decides. A genuine complaint stays up and gets a reply.

Reviews on your artist pages

Reviews that name an artist placed on that artist’s page beside their portfolio, with review markup only where those reviews are visible on the page.

The profile the stars sit on

Reviews show on your Google Business Profile, and the categories, hours, photos of healed work and booking link that decide whether you appear in the map pack are a separate job. Google Business Profile for tattoo studios

The short answer

Tattoo shop reviews tell a nervous first-timer whether your studio is clean, friendly and worth the price, and SE Ranking shows 30 US searches a month for the phrase. We text a review request to every client after their session, invite them to name the artist, reply to every review in your voice, answer deposit and touch-up complaints calmly, report only reviews that break Google’s policies, and place reviews on your artist pages.

Common questions about reputation management for tattoo studios

When should a tattoo studio ask for a review?
Shortly after the session, once the client is home and the aftercare instructions have gone out. The experience is fresh and the piece is new. A text with a one-tap link works better than asking at the counter while they are wrapped up. Ask every client, flash and custom alike, and keep it short.
Should clients name the artist in their review?
Invite it, never require it. A line in the request saying the artist would love to be mentioned is fine. Reviews that name an artist help people searching for that artist or style, and they can be placed on the artist’s own page on your site. The words stay the client’s own.
How should we reply to a review about a lost deposit?
Briefly and without blame. Thank them, restate in plain terms that deposits hold the artist’s time and how the policy works, and invite them to contact the owner. Do not recount their missed appointment in public. The next client is reading to see whether the policy is fair and clear.
Can we offer a discount on the next tattoo for a review?
No. Google’s policies do not allow incentives for reviews, and the FTC rule in force since October 2024 bans rewards conditioned on positive reviews and bans fake ones outright. Ask every client with no strings attached, make it one tap, and let honest reviews carry the rating over time.
Can you get a bad review removed?
Only if it breaks Google’s policies, such as a fake review, one from someone who was never a client, or one about a different shop. We report those with the policy cited, and Google decides. A genuine complaint about your studio stays up, so the reply is the part you control.
Can we only send the review link to clients who loved their piece?
No. Sending the link only to clients who said they were happy is review gating, and Google’s policies prohibit it. Ask everyone. The same message can ask how the session went so you hear about a problem first and can help, but every client still gets the link.
