Web Design & Development

Firefighter Union Website Design by a Dues-Paying Member.

A member on shift needs the overtime language, and the contract is buried in a group text from two years ago. When negotiations go public, residents search the local and find a broken site, so someone else sets the message. We build a members-only portal for the station and a public side officers can update.

  • The members-only side is the real site: the contract, minutes, forms, and notices, behind a login that works from a phone on shift.
  • The public side is a communications tool for endorsements, negotiations, and the community, and it needs to be updated by an officer in minutes, not by a vendor in weeks.
  • The local owns the site, the domain, and every login, so it survives an election and the next executive board.

What keeps the phone quiet

Why most union websites go quiet after the first year.

The contract is a PDF in an email

A member on shift needs to check the overtime language. The CBA is in a group text from two years ago, or on a shared drive with three older versions. The site has a photo of the executive board and nothing behind a login.

Nobody can update it

The member who built the site got promoted and moved on. The endorsements page still shows the last election. Every notice waits for a vendor ticket, so the notices go on social media and the site is forgotten.

The public side says nothing in a fight

Contract negotiations turn public. Residents search the local’s name and find a broken site from 2019. The message that day comes from whoever else published one.

What you get

Built to book the job.

Members-only portal

Login from a phone. The current CBA and past agreements, meeting minutes, bylaws, grievance and benefit forms that route to the right officer, notices, and an events calendar. Role-based access for officers, stewards, and members.

The public side

Who the local is, leadership, endorsements, negotiation updates, press, community events, and how to reach the right officer. Written for residents, media, and elected officials. Union communications and marketing

Endorsements and campaigns

A page per election cycle with endorsed candidates, why, and how members and the public can help, updated by an officer without code.

Notices that reach the station

Post once and send it by email or text to the membership. With Grow, the build fee is waived and inquiries from members or the public get a text back within seconds.

Secure and owned by the local

Encrypted connection, backups, security monitoring, and hosting month to month with no contract. The domain and every login belong to the local, not to the member who set it up.

Department sites and the public side of the job

If the department itself needs a website and the member systems behind it, that is its own build. Search setup and a Google Business Profile for the local are included with every plan; community campaigns live on the marketing side. Fire department websites

How it works

Fixed quote. Fixed timeline. Yours when it’s done.

  1. 01

    15-minute call

Size of the local, what members cannot find today, whether a negotiation or an election is coming, and who will run the site.

  2. 02

    Fixed quote

Per project, in writing, before work starts. Good for 30 days. Member portal and public side priced separately so the executive board can phase it.

  3. 03

    Build

Portal and documents first, then the public side, endorsements, and notices. The board reviews on a live link.

  4. 04

    Launch and hand over

About six weeks. DNS cut, officers trained to post notices and update endorsements from a phone, written guide delivered for the next board.

  • “Clint took my company's project much further than I ever expected. His tech experience was fantastic, but even more than that, he guided me in directions I hadn't anticipated. We hadn't planned on some of the changes he suggested, but he made it all bigger, better and bolder.”

  • “Clint and the team at Blaksheep have truly exceeded our expectations. From day one, the communication was clear, prompt, and professional. We were never left guessing where things stood. The work they've done on our website and social media presence has been outstanding.it looks great, functions seamlessly, and really captures the essence of our brand. We're so grateful to have found a team that combines creative talent with such reliability and responsiveness. We're genuinely excited to continue growing with Blaksheep and can't recommend them highly enough!"”

  • “Shoutout to our IT wizard for fixing our work email and saving us all from a slow descent into chaos, carrier pigeons, and “did you get my message?” debates. He calmly swooped in, pushed some mysterious buttons only he understands, and—like magic—emails started working again. No dramatic sighs. No eye-rolling (at least not where we could see it). Just quiet competence and the subtle confidence of someone who knows we would’ve absolutely made it worse if we tried ourselves. Emails are flowing. Productivity is restored. Sanity levels have stabilized.”

  • “I cannot RAVE and PRAISE enough about who Clint is as a person AND the amount of talent he holds. Genuine, funny, relaxed, and could not have asked for a better graphic designer to work with. When everyone else didn’t meet the expectations I needed for a really personal project, Clint exceeded above and beyond. THANK YOU to this man and the quality work he resulted me with. I will FOREVER use him in any and all design projects going forward!!!”

    Megan TheriotGoogle review, 2026
  • ““BlakSheep Creative has completely changed how customers find my business.” Before working with Clint and the team, we were basically invisible online. Now we rank at the top of Google for all our core services — brush clearing, forestry mulching, land development — you name it. The leads we get are not just more frequent, they’re better quality. They took the time to understand our business, explained what they were doing in plain English, and followed through with results that speak for themselves. Couldn’t be happier with the service and support. If you own a service business in Livingston Parish and want to grow, this is the crew to call. – Adam Hodges Owner, Hodges Land Management Livingston, Louisiana”

The short answer

A firefighter union website has two audiences that must never see the same page. Members need the contract, meeting minutes, grievance and benefit forms, officer contacts, and notices behind a login that works from a phone at the station. The public needs to see who you are, who you endorse, what the negotiation is about, and what the local does for the community. BlakSheep is firefighter-owned, so nobody has to explain shift schedules, the CBA, or why the roster matters. We build both sides, on a site the local owns. Fixed quote in writing before we start.

Common questions about web design & development for firefighter unions

What should a firefighter union website include?
A members-only portal with the contract, minutes, bylaws, forms, and notices; a public side with leadership, endorsements, negotiation updates, and community work; a way to reach the right officer; and a login and editing setup an officer can run from a phone. Everything else is decoration.
Can members access the contract and forms from a phone on shift?
Yes. The portal is built phone-first because that is where members are when they need it. The current CBA, past agreements, minutes, and forms are searchable, and forms route to the right officer instead of a general inbox. Role-based access keeps officer material separate.
Who updates the site after the next election?
Whoever the new board assigns. The site is editable without code, the training and written guide transfer to the next officers, and every login belongs to the local. That is the difference between a site that survives an election and one that dies with the member who built it.
Can the site handle endorsements and political action?
Yes. A page per election cycle lists endorsed candidates, why the local endorsed them, and how members and the public can help. Officers update it without a vendor. If the local runs a PAC or a campaign, the site links to it and keeps the two clearly separate.
We also need a site for the department itself. Same project?
It can be quoted together, but it is a separate site with separate ownership. The department site and the member systems behind it, SOGs, rosters, and forms, are their own build. The local’s site belongs to the local, and the two should never share a login.
How much does a union website cost?
It depends on the size of the local and how much of the member portal you want in the first phase. You get a fixed quote in writing after a 15-minute call, good for 30 days, itemized so the executive board can vote on it. Grow waives the build fee if monthly fits the budget better.
